Hi, I'm Helena Chutjian, owner of Snow Pond Primitives.
Since my business began in Maine, the name Snow Pond Primitives felt right. Snow Pond was a beautiful lake, through the trees from our 1896 farmhouse, and where so many memories were made. We would hear the call of the loons, see migrating geese flying in formation, and a moose running by from time to time. There we lived with our 2 sons Matthew and Michael for 5 years.
The Marine Corps had other plans for us and sent us to Buffalo, New York, where we lived for 8 1/2 years.
Along with lots of snow came our daughter Hope, and my love of carving. Not to mention my obsession with beach glass:)
I am thrilled to say that a new chapter has begun in our lives, and in July 2007 we packed it up and moved to South Carolina!!! A quaint little coastal town, that has been our dream for 10 years.
I never knew years ago as I was ordering my Cypress knees to carve, that one day I would be seeing them growing right before my eyes.
Our oldest son Matthew served as a Navy Corpsman, and is now a Federal Border Patrol Agent.
Our son Michael, the one who hated school most of all, is a college student at The University of South Caroliana and has just begun his 3rd year.
As for our 11 year old Hope, she is always creating right by my side. Watch for her designs, and our collaborations:)
